good idea, you should go for it

Real easy to use J, my only thought is that this will take away the creativity part and display differences between the sites. Some people put a lot of time and energy into their site. if it is going to be set up as a seperate thing for jfo's and such than it's great, it makes it real easy to see all the angles of the car.

What if you host your pictures elsewhere?

Don't really like it.  The classification process isn't the problem. It's simply some of those allowed to classify and following the guidelines on the classification page. 

 

This is not to replace websites, its to allow a user to very quickly get an overall picture on the 'looks' of someones car.  You and I all know that some people vote on these things based on someones avatar.  At least this would extend that process out just a little.  It would be in addition to the persons website.. Think of it as a 'quick view'

I like it J -- Also another point to look at is the photo section at the top of everyones website .. I have found a lot of really nice pics in there that people don't put in their site presentation .. I look at that area as well when I'm judging, wagering, etc.

There's no interior photo.  A shot of the inside should be included.    Just my .02

Why are you hosting images elsewhere?!

a lot of sites are hosting images elsewhere and simply linking to them on their sites.

Minimum for interior is aleast shots of the backseats, front seats and dash area.  One shot is not going to show a cars interior.

You wont be able to utilize this feature unless you upload images on GS.   You mean in order to use the features I have to register on the site? Why cant I use my username and password from another site?? LOL

I don't understand why you would host your pics elsewhere when you can do the same thing right here.

I just keep my pics on my servers and link to them on my gotstang pages. For me it's easier to change pics that way. I rename a pic, drop it in the folder of the pic I want to replace, done.

Plus when I set my gotstang site up a few years ago, I could get better image quality if I hosted the pics myself.

I host elsewhere because I have over 2000 images and 40+ videos (up to 190Mb each).

Plus I have stuff on my club site.

Don't want to innundate your site with all that overhead.

I dont want to rely on 3rd party hosts for images.

Is there a easier way for us to shuffle our photos around in our folders (like that slick click & drag thing you just designed) ?

Also, what would happen if someone decided to send up a bajillion photos? Don't want to kill your bandwidth.

You wont kill the bandwidth, and I can work on that image shuffle thing. There is something like that now with the image uploader, you just choose which gallery to put the images in... I will start coding the front end to allow users to choose which gallery they want to view instead of viewing all images...
