it's taken several weeks, but we have been busy little bees with removing and selling all my computer/EFI parts and then purchasing and installing all my blow-thru carb parts, not to mention a wee bit of fabrication... and she is almost done! the last piece to the puzzle will be arriving on thursday - the carburetor!

we borrowed a carb similar to the one we ordered to use to mock everything up - all the fuel lines, the cold side piping, etc. absolutely everything is in place. all we need to do is unwrap the new carb, bolt it on, and start her up!

i am so freaking excited!

i updated my mods list and also added a few sneak peeks of the new set up on page 2 - http://www.gotstang.com/profile.php?HerNastyNotch&detail=1&page=2#jump

hey lee... john is trying to bling me out man... check out the chrome alternator and water neck... not to mention the fabricated aluminum valve covers...  mmmmmmm shiny! lol

anyways, i'll get pix of the completed transformation after the weekend and maybe even a video...

i was running into problems with my old OBDI computer handling everything i was throwing at it. the car was running a little funky. i was faced with two choices:

1. upgrade my computer system to a performance engine management system like F.A.S.T. not a very cheap option, but very effective. however, i would still have to take the car to someone else for tuning since my hubby and i are not experienced computer tuners.

2. remove all the computer stuff and place control of the engine in my husbands oh-so-competent hands. not a very cheap option either, but nonetheless very effective. my hubby can tune a carb in his sleep which means we no longer have to pay someone else to tune my car. i got a wideband O2 and a laptop so we can monitor and track performance and then my hubby can make any necessary tweaks.

driveability should remain about the same... there is always some give and take when it comes to completely changing engine management like this, but compared to the way she was running, it has to be better! lol

yes, she will still be my daily driver. lol

Hey Wendy, will the carbuerated set-up be easier to tune? My carb car tends to give me more fits than my EFI car.
