7 Year quest for that front end shake- a Fix in sight?

blog Tuesday, August 31, 2010 @ 8:33 PM

ok, I've replaced EVERYTHING in my front end over the years; yet a presistant shake at 75 mph that seems to fade in/out in severity has always been there- hell it even appears better at 80+ mph so it makes absolutely no sense....

It appeared to get a little better as things were replaced- but STILL!  I've replaced:  a ball-joint, wheel bearings (adjusted and re-packed twice now), brakes & rotors, steering rack, rims, tires (a few times) and 4+ alignments...none of these were the root cause for the shake.  I also sware the shake was there before I lowered the car....

So last year a friend helped me locate movement in the front lower control arm on the passenger side- It wasn't even obvious but he got some movement out of it.

Today I ordered new control arms; maybe some fox body folks will be interested in this tubular control arm that still allows for the conventional spring types.  I wasn't willing to part with my pro-sport springs- I like them and don't want to change something i like; so I wasn't all about a coil-over conversion.

So; stay tuned and I'll let you know if this solves my problem AND I'll tell you how I feel about this style A-arm.

Let us know how you like them, that's up my alley.  My strut tower  brace fixed all of my front end shake.

Sep 2nd, 2010 @ 5:26 PM

strut tower brace did that?  lol- I wasn't that lucky- I don't have it on right now; but I did  for 5+ years.  I plan to put it back on when I'm done with engine adjustments and after I install the kenne bell

well, they had my car all day and it didn't get done...
the Am appointment ran into mid day so he couldn't start it soon enough to guarantee me he wouldn't have it over night.

....so I bring it back tomorrow-  please I hope this goes well- I never dealt with this shop before; and I need a good alignment guy close to work.
