As a Mustang fan, and all around auto enthusiast, I rarely discriminate year make and model of anything. I'm also an advid Jeep guy, I personally spent countless hours upgrading and modifying the one i have now, I loved the late 80's early 90's Toyota 4x4 SR5's. My 92 Toyota lasted me 10 years with suspension lift and 36 inch Baja Claws. I personally have owned and driven over 30 vehicles since i've had my driver's licence. My first musclecar ever was a 1970 ss chevelle w 454 which took every dime a 17 year old could earn and i couldn't drive the damn thing until I was 19 because my budget wasn't as proportional as my craftmanship. My beater at that time was a ford pinto which was literally held together with duct tape. I've won sound off competitions with a 87 Suzuki Samurai and delivered pizza in it to pay for all the mods and sound gear. My 88 GTA was painstakingly modified with personal know how and a budget while working at Carsounds in Md. It was even in an Alpine commercial once.

Point is....the actual work, the craftsmanship, the little differences, the subltle yet cool changes, and most importantly,it was done by me and my buds..guys with skills to start off with a stock vehicle (the canvas)...and turn it into a show winner (the work of art)...Best of all?? It was DRIVABLE! This separates it from some store bought showroom trailer queen. Where the owner just wrote a check and made some payments...drove the car to shows...and took credit for somebody else's expertise.

So...enlighten me...how do these judgings work?....I scroll through countless stangs...they all look good....and the Dimes I drop are for the craftmanship...But the FACE OFFS??? I vote on these....and I will let you know right now...I will pick somebody's SKILL over a CHECKBOOK everytime!!....even if the the Checkbook car looks better...I just WILL NEVER BE CONVINCED or PERSUADED to feel any different on this becuase i was there myself!! I feel a person's skill and know how are what brings these cars life and attitude. NOT some DEALER ADD ONS. It's like saying...congrats!! on being able to AFFORD a showroom car... vs.. congrats for your skills and know how....How is this FAIR?

i get what you are going at but i have to agree with blackjack as well.. like you said fair is fair so why should i descriminate because one guy bought  his that way and another built it.. i vote becuase of the difference with the two stangs as well as there presentation of there site.. becuase like blackjack said some people are just not capable of building there own but why should we hold that against them. they worked hard for there money so they could buy one built.. i wish i had the money to buy one built. and besides if people didnt pay other people to build them custom cars i would be out of a job.  and you say this is gotstang not gotwebsite well think of a car show one guys cleans his up very well spends days on the detailing of his car and another guys runs his through the speedywash on the way there witch one should win. well how we display are website is basicly detailing are car. if i spent hours apon hours setting up my website and somebody sent me a faceoff and they only have one pic of there car and  dont list there mods but there car looks better is faster has moremods and just overall is a better car how does he deserve to win the faceoff just cause his car does... a couple weeks ago i went to a carshow that was at the dragstrip and we where racing while we where showing the car.. but my maine purpose was the racing and i didnt really show my car.. i parked over with my trailer and my drag car so my car wasnt really in the show location as well as i didnt detail the car. now my car was the fastest car in the car show and it is more modded better taken care of looks better everything better then some of the cars that one trophys at this show but i won nothing becuase of how i displayed the car.. so does that make since??

It seems to me that rubn1out wants to give credit where credit is due then I say give ALL the credit to the Ford design engineers that built the first Mustang and consider the rest to be modified versions there of.

Sure, why not take it a few steps further and thank the caveman named " Ugh" who invented the wheel? Problem with that would be?? Yeah thats right...nobody would drive an "UGH GT" ....wow....I really struck a nerve with this topic...

Rubbin1 & J, I sooo agree with both of you. My car is a good example of it as well. Started life as a 4cyl automatic w/ red interior & is now a full & complete 1988 Saleen replica w/ all original Saleen parts (nearly as rebodied Saleen) yet it will loose to newer stock stang & the owners check book. This is why i dont like to do car challenges here. When i look at a car i could care less on presentaion of the web site. I look at the car & whats gone into it. I dont really bother w/ someones newer stock mustang as i see that everyday on the street.

crimson... your saying that someone who drops $50k for a roush should get the same credit as the person who builds one? if that was the case everyone should be buying a prebuilt car.

Store bought & home built couldnt be more different. I know my way around my mustang as i have installed every nut & bolt myself, installed all the parts, interior, wiring, fuel system, exhaust, engine(s), tranny(s) & rear ends, disc brake conversions. The guy bought the store bought car installs gas LOL, while reaping the benefits of someone elses work. Dont get me wrong, i love the Saleens, Roushs etc.. but those arent owner built cars & i think special consideration needs to be given for those of us who have owner built car meaning the person who currently owns it is the person who did all the work.

Oh...and I do agree with 1hotpony (i think i unwittingly hurt his feelings btw...sorry for that) about the mods list vs photos..if its on the list?? it definately needs to be in a pic. If for nothing else? Insurance reasons...
