Has anyone has an issue with there car just dying for what seems like no reason. My 02 is doing that. I thought maybe it was cause of the injectors being too big since I hadnt had it tuned for them but I switched back to the old 19 lbers and she runs better but will just up and die either at idle or while moving. I dont have any ideas except for changinf to  fuel filter. Anyone had this problem before?????????

The Idle Air Control (IAC) is a very common culprit  on the 4.6 ltr motor.

Another vote for IAC. Very very common problem especially on the 01-04 GTs.

OK thatnks everyone. I am going to have to get that changed out then

After changing back to the stock injectors the knock went away and it hasnt seemed to come back.My negative cable is kinda loose though. I will tighten it up and drive it to the parts store to get the Idle air control thinggie. Thanks for all your inputs

When mine was running erratically, idling fast then nearly dying and backfiring, it turned out to be a broken throttle position sensor.

another vote for IAC, EGR and lose battery terminals or wire to the connector

Speaking of which I did notice this right after I recharged my filter but I have done that numerous times before with no ill effects. Noone round here carries my I.A.C. so I will have to find one tommorro at ford. It makes sense to change that cause now I only have a problem at idle. It dont get irratic though just dies if ya have to sit at a light and usually dies as soon as you touch the throttle.

You missied one helluva fun day at the bbc. We had a blast till the car started acting up.

Oh and I just noticed that my theft light flashes right before it dies. Could this have any connections to it dieing? Did ford put a kill switch if the theft thing flashes and if so how do I re do it.

Well she has not sputtered since I changed the fuel filter and cleaned out the IAC with brake fluid. Beats me but it seems better now. We will see.
