The Mustang V6 gets a lot of crap from a lot of people, even the import guys with their engines smaller than that 2-liter of Dr. Pepper I had with dinner. People are always ragging on how it's so slow and a travesty of a mustang. Well, if Ford only built v8 mustangs, than the mustang wouldn't of been as big of a hit, or survived past 1965. The Mustang is a car that people buy for the nostalgia, performance, style, heritage, and price.
I'm trying to fight for the mustang v6s reputation as more than just a cruise car. In autocross, I was scoring better times than Mustang GTs, 5.0s, and even a few Vettes and STIs! So don't think for a minute that just because its a V6 mustang, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve a little respect. There are V6 Mustangs running 10s on a stock motor and 17psi.
Also, don't automatically assume that because we try to trick out our v6s, that we are ricers either. Some V6s guys go all out with wings and space age body kits and euro tailights, but so do GT and Cobra guys. In fact, lately, the GT and Cobra guys I have seen our a lot worse than the v6 guys. So please, just show a little respect, I don't want any "But it's a V6" comments. All V6 means is that it requires more effort to get the same results. |
