I couldn't resist the blog title...lol

I used a 3 step system for rust seal paint (found at jegs)
my goal is to just have it black, I didn't care if it was smooth, so I only used a quick wirebrush on it.

before restro

Step 1: degreasing                                       Step 2: rust/etch treatment

Step 3 Completed:  Rust Seal paint

My new cover will be installed when my gears are done, painting the drums is just to look ok until the disk/5lug conversion next spring.

I wouldn't do the chrome cover. Mine rusted up. I went with an aluminum the next time around.

I couldn't find an aluminum one...plus it should be fine, I don't even drive in the rain anymore.

actually, people said that about my chrome oil pan...and that's 3 years on with plenty of miles without any rust...and I did drive in the rain for those 3 years.

I bought a chrome cover for mine.  Put it on and it was too tight.  The gear actually made impressions in the cover.  So, I picked up the alum. one for it.
