So we started off the day going to the Jack Roush signing on March 22nd at Lance Cunningham Ford to get my husband's Roush Stage 3 signed and to meet Jack. Here we all are standing in line for Jack's autograph when our salesman comes up and we start talking about the Roadster in the dealership. Turns out they only made 100 Roadsters and only 9 in the color that was in the showroom. This got my attention and we started talking numbers. This went on for a while with much encouragement from those around for me to buy the car. Finally I joked and said that if the price was right and Jack would drive me out of the showroom in it, then we would buy it. The Roush sales manager said he would do his best. Turns out that the Regional Roush representative said that it wouldn't happen. Bummer.
So after the general signing the Roush owners were supposed to fire up their cars when Jack walked outside. My husband said he waited forever and when Jack finally walked out there I was, walking out with him! We were in the dealership talking about the Roadster and I asked him personally if he would drive me out of the dealership in it. He asked if I was buying it and I replied, "Only if YOU drive ME out in it, that's a deal breaker." He agreed.
So all the Roush club members jumped in to lend a hand moving stuff out of the way and taking pictures. Jack jumped in the driver's seat, I got in the passenger seat, and my husband jumped in the back and rode where the top comes down holding onto the lightbar. We slowly got out of the dealership when I asked Jack if he had ever drove someone out before and he said he never had.
Once we got out of the dealership I asked him to burn em' out. He power braked it and roasted the tires off. However toward the end of the burn he slid sideways and almost hit another Roadster and a Black Jack that were already sold.
Jack stopped the car and got out saying, "That's it, I quit." He then turned around and came back and hugged us.
We found out later that he told one of the salesmen inside "I almost lost it and took out some of the inventory." They informed him that those weren't inventory cars, but instead were customer cars. I don't think he'll be burning out in a customer's car again.
He signed the car on the trunk above Roadster as "Jack Roush USA 1 of 9"
I wasn't expecting to buy the Roadster when I got there that day, especially since I had never driven one or even knew much about them, but the experience was worth the payments and the car is just a bonus!
