Hi, I'm Steve from Charlotte and have had my '06 Pony Package Stang since August '05.
It's my 2nd Stang. My first was a '70 Grabber Green Sportsroof that I bought new in Nov. '69 right after I got out of the Air Force. So, now you've figured out that I'm a Boomer reliving the "good old days".
Then (my 1st Pony) Now (my new Pony)
I sold my '70 in 1976 when life dictated a more economical car. I've had a bunch of regular cars since then, including a minivan and an SUV. Still have (or should I say my wife has) the SUV, an '02 Acura MDX. Although that's been a good vehicle, I really prefer to drive my Stang. She goes along with me, though she prefers all the creature comforts her car offers. As I told her...the MDX is for touring and hauling in comfort, the Stang is for FUN. So what if it doesn't have 12 cup holders and no one can really sit in the back seat? Truth be known, only a munchkin can sit in the 3rd row of an MDX.
When the 2005's came out, I told my wife that I had to get one. The styling really reminded me of my old Stang, especially the rear. I liked the GT styling and although my wife encourged me to get one, I didn't want a V8. I said if Ford ever comes out with a GT with a V6, I'm there. Well, one Friday at the end of August a guy I work with, who knew that I wanted a V6 "GT", told me about the Pony Package. I went on Ford.com that night, found a Vista Blue in Charlotte and went down and bought it on Saturday. I had been planning to get Sonic Blue, but the '06s changed to Vista. I think I like Vista better. Been lovin' my Stang ever since.
I went to the Ford & Mustang show at Dale Jarrett Ford. I didn't buy it there, but it's where I get it serviced. Funny story...at the show I ran into one of the salesmen who I happened to know. He had sold us the MDX in '02 when he worked in the Acura store. Since then, I've been to the Autofair at Lowes Motor Speedway and the Carlisle PA. Mustang & Ford Show. Went down to Myrtle Beach in July for a day of Mustang Week. Can you tell that I'm really into my Stang?
Check out my pics. Cheers!
PS: I'm never planning to sell this Stang. Maybe I'll give it to a deserving grandkid when I'm too old to drive it. That won't be anytime soon.
