The culprit, leaking extension housing oil seal.
New oil seal, synthetic tranny fluid and what the heck lets pull the DS safety loop out of the parts bin and put it on since the car will be up on 4 jack stands anyway.
This is my front porch now known as the porch of parts, that is where all of the parts go as they come off the car.
Removal is straight forward, a seal puller would help and I did not have anything wide enough to install the seal so I made a block from plywood so the seal would not be damaged.
Here is the seal in. Don't forget to put a bead of rtv around the seal or it will leak.
Long ago I read an article in MM&FF's where they put a bone stock GT on a dyno then replaced the engine oil, tranny fluid, and diff oil with synthetics. The car picked up 10 rhp just from that. Here is the synthetic oil I put in. I don't have a siphon so I removed my Pro 5.0 Shifter and poured the fluid in that way.
The seats have to come out for the drive shaft safety loop install. It bolts under the carpet about an inch forward of the seat belt latch.
You can see the porch of parts has been taken over by my daughter for her artwork.
Here it is all set. The FMS aluminum ds is a stout piece and I really don't think I will ever have enough pony's to snap it, but why risk it.
If you have ever seen a pole vaulted stang it does horrific damage to the car.
I am in the teach myself how to do things as I go mode so I got the idea when I used my digital camera to take pic as I go along so when I put everything back together if I forgot how it went I can look at the pic. (Not bad for a dummy huh?). So then I thought it would make a nice page at GS. Let me know what you think.
