There is a little history behind my project car that needs to be told. The time it spent with the wife, how the car was bought and the concept mustang envision in the transformed upon completion. This will take sometime as do most project cars, but the help and input will be appreciated by me from you the viewers.

This 2001 Mustang, 3.8 V6, with 193 horsepower, with 16”rim 225/55 Goodyear Eagle stock wheels, with a factory Mach I sound system and power very thing, which came with the Mustang.  Was purchased in 2004 with 32,000 miles on the odometer at a cost of $12,000, was bought for the wife as a safe and dependable driver for work. Yes, I know a V8 would have been better to have purchase. You will understand later as to why I did this purchase.  But, what can I say… the mustang was for the wife? How much more does she need to get around town?

The first day will give a better understanding as to why I tell this story. Upon purchase like most 98 to 04 mustang the headlights had frosted over and the dealership agreed to replace them. So the Mustang was left overnight to do the work. The next day the wife and I arrived to pick up the Mustang and it was not read as usual. The service rep. advised us to comeback the next day and it would be read; So, I watch him move the mustang right behind a Ford Expedition on the lot in the service department.  As I watched the mustang being parked, I thought if I had to move the Expedition first, I would not see the mustang behind me. Well, the inevitable happen to the mustang. We returned to find a damaged front bumper. But, because we  had not except the mustang and drove it off the lot, the bumper had to be replace at the dealer cost. Now with new headlights and bumper this changed the look of the mustang completely; which made the dealership want to change the price of the car. NO DEAL. WE HAVE A DEAL. So, we took our keys and extended warranty and drove off the lot. With it looking like what you see in the picture.

As time when on the wife did not appreciate the mustang, after numerous great compliments on the car as she drove it around town. She wanted to trade it in for something else after one year of having the mustang. The second year I had advised her that driving the mustang at 45 mph. in the fast lane is not good for the mustang emission. I know…I know… I had created the true drivers worse enemy on the road. That person, who buys a nice sports car, then drives it really slow in the fast lane. Sorry…fellas’…but there is a happy ending to the story.  The first time the wife had to take the mustang to get it emission tested the mustang failed the test. The State emission rep. in Arizona had done something, I had never seen before in my life time to the test result sheet. On the receipt wrote and advisory which stated, “Operate vehicle at 80 to 100 mph for 30 minutes to resolve problem.” All I could do was laugh at the report, and the wife, who was upset at report.

This made the wife hated the mustang even more for she could not operate the mustang the way it was need to be driven. So, in June 2007 the wife and I traded vehicles which we drove around town. This is after several times of talking her out of  trading the mustang in for something else, like a VW bug, or a Chevy Tracker and the Mazda Miata…Well, you get the picture.

Now, the first thing I needed to do was get some sound in the mustang, if I were to drive the V6 mustang around town. Or I would have traded the mustang in for something else as well.  This is for you to know…No matter what the mustang looks like, the respect for sound is defiantly important to all generations. Where there it comes out of the stereo or the muffler sound can make a huge difference in how we appreciate our cars.  For example: It can be a rusted out, falling apart 67 mustangs; or a 74 Mustang II with a small four cylinder engine in it… If it has one of these two sounds… You have to say, “Well… at less it sounds good.”

So, I put a deeper sounding muffler (Cherry Bomb vortex) on the exhaust system to get the screaming out of my ears. This made it much better. I have not stopping there, though I have order a spoiler chin and full bra for the front with an air ram system for underneath the hood. It is a start for my little pony with more to come.
