Driving home from work today the monster decided it would through a fit.  oil pressure gauges went dead then came back, temp gauge shot up to redline.  was able to limp the car home the last 3 miles.  When I got home oil pressure gauge was back to normal.  But when I poped the hood there told a different story.  There is some ticking going on in the heads and the car was on the verge of overheating.  Now unfortunatly I have no real pressure gauge to see what the car is doing oil pressure wise except the worthless ford cluster.  And I am not exactly set up to change the oil pump.  Oh yeah and I had a small leak spring up in one of the trany lines.(auto trans).  Now mind you all of this happend at the same time.  I think all signs point to the oil pump.  Which is crap becuase that sum bitch is hard to get to.  But everything is heat releated.  So after reading this sob story what is your diagnosis.  I am open for suggestions.  thanks Ryan

yes, it does.  I think I caught it soon enough.  more and more points to the oil pump.  if the pump is going out would be the cause of the ticking, not getting enough lube to the lifter valley, that does not concern me to much.  The car isnt going anywhere until its fixed.  fourtunaly i started vaction yesterday.

If you can either buy or borrow a mechanical  oil pressure gauge and hook it up where the sending unit is and start the car to see if you have any oil pressure .. if not then you know what is ahead but it might save you from opening up the bottom end if it turns out no to be the problem
