called FHP. they arrive. officer gathers us together and the convo goes a little something like this:
FHP: miss, why don't you go ahead and tell me what happened.
ME: as evidenced by my skid marks, i am in the turn lane to make a right turn onto 49th street from ulmerton road. i am 10-15 feet away from an entrance to an exxon gas station. the other car was in the right lane (the lane immediately to my left) about 5 feet ahead of me and appeared to be going straight on through the intersection. then with no blinker the other car swerved into my lane and began a rapid deceleration. he apparently realized his error when my brakes locked up and attempted to swerve back into his lane, but it was too late.
FHP: ok sir, why don't you tell me your version.
ASSHAT: i was in the right lane and i wanted to turn into the gas station. i started to move over into the turn lane, i saw her in my mirror and tried to get back into my lane but she was going too fast and she hit me.
FHP: she hit you? sir, can you repeat that again please.
*asshat repeats lame story*
FHP: so let me get this right. you were driving along in your lane and she is driving along in her lane. you move over into her lane, see her at the last second, and swerve back into your lane, but not quickly enough?
ASSHAT: yes. she was going too fast. there was nothing i could do.
FHP: sir, who do you think is at fault for this accident?
ASSHAT: well, i don't know. i guess if you look at it from a certain way i am at fault, but she was going too fast.
FHP: i am going to make this short and sweet. sir, you are going to get a ticket today so go get your license, insurance, and registration.
good side:
bad side
i have no idea whether this is something that can be repaired or at worst, have to replace the bumper...
