Should be ok. Just make sure you don't have the chain slack against the heads when you lift. That way it won't bark up the aluminum. Should look great kiddo.
I used to use a plate bolted to the intake and that had no problem so you should be just fine. The head bolts are a lot stronger than the intake bolts.
I concur with the above answers
I had no problems.
We usually use the accessory bolt holes at the front and back ...they're bigger...should be better?
I really like the intake plates. Made things much easier. I hear the EFI plates are way more expensive than the carb'd plates.
I have the lift plates that bolt to the header bolts....I haven't checked to see if they fit well on this engine yet- but the header bolt holes I'm not sure I trust them to support all the weight
My heads were alum when we did my engine silly
She's Freaking Out! LMAO!
Deep breath! Count to ten..................it'll be ok.
J has the answer .. lol
no way...his heads are ported out of a truck...I forget what it is; but I find it hard to beleive they were aluminum!
anyways....we did use the engine lift plates when we lifted it out...but again, those are steel heads!
AHHHH SOMEONE JUST CALL ME WHEN IT'S OVER
AND I CAN'T FIND MY HAYES MANUAL
I NEED TORQUE SPECS FOR MY ENGINE MOUNTS
I'm going to get a magnet and see if his heads are aluminum or not...lol
GO DRINK A BEER!
WORK ON CAR TOMORROW WHEN FREAKING OUT!
God she's going to blow a gasket .. LMAO
oops! I meantto say "when not freaking out"
I used the accessory bolts and it worked out well. Easier to lift nose to get trans tail in, I thought. Cast aluminum is pretty stout. You can always get a nylon strap, hook to garage door, push button, roll car out and line up, hit button again, and the engine is in. lmfao! You will do fine and nothing will happen.
Use the garage door
decided to go with the plates (I just hate how they push on the valve covers)
I used some washers on the backside to protect the heads from distortion
found the haynes manual..no torque specs for the mounts...guess I'll just take the air gun to them tomorrow.
IS IT RUNNING YET?
what are the odds I don't screw up the rear main seal tomorrow when i install it? jeez....
You'e almost home! Don't over think it at this point.
I expect a video of it running by Sunday!
No pressure here!
How in the hell would you screw up the rear main seal?
Stick it in & fire it up!
Good nite........I've had a little wine. Time for bed!
going to bed now...new blog tomorrow
ENGINE IS GOING IN BABY! I'm sure at a minimum it'll look nice
It's going to run just fine Nicole .. trust us .. lol
What we have here is a clear cut case of "OCD" Please consult you local physician for a prescription of
"Calm the Fuck Down"
Horsepower TV showed them lifting a 4.6 with intake manifold plate. Then they had a segment about screwing up rear main seal. Just kiddin'. lmao. Wanted to see how you were doing this morning. Let us know. Be sure Nicole to add Van Halen's 5150 song to your cruise list. lol. Take care.
