Stang Update

Ok since my lil fuel problem at the bumble bee cruise I have changed the fuel filter and that didnt help. I went to the next systematic problem which would be the fuel pump........... Instead of getting a stock GT fuel pump I opted for the Ford Focus SVT pump part # 3s4z-9h307-bc. All my buddies told me, oh yeah its a direct replacement. Oh and it jumps the pump to a 255 lph pump, which it does. Well they are full of shit .........It aint no direct replacement and although it dont take a rocket scientist to figure it out I PERSONALLY dont like playing with wires that go into my fuel tank. Well what it boils down to is you have to cut and splice one wire which I opted to soder back together. I then covered it in shrink wrap. Did I fail to mention the last time I messed with a fuel pump I caught both my hands and arms on fire cause I was 18 and wanted music more than eye brows lol. Please if you mess with these diconnect the battery first. Well I got it in and filled the car up with gas from a different gas station and added a bottle of $6.00 injector cleaner and within the first 20 minutes of driving had the same problem. The car would die in 5th with minimal pressure on the gas pedal and when I stepped on it she would die but start right back up on its own due to being at highway speed. Plus when I idled at a stop light and let the clutch out and hit the gas to pull out it would die once again. Auto zone codes before the pump read 2 injectors reading open and the fuel level sensor malfunctioned. I took the car to auto zone after the fuel pump swap and even with the car still doing the same damned problem no codes present. Since then I have driven the car for 4 days and she has not missed a beat. No dieing at idle, no dieing when the clutch is let out and gas is given, and no dieing when I lug it out in 5th gear. Is it safe to say that I fixed the problem? The only thing I now notice is that from bout 1,000 rpm to 3,000 rpm's she has lost a great deal of power but runs like a bat outta hell from 3 g's on.I know I need to get it tuned and put the 24 lb injectors back in when I tune it but what else could cause the power loss at low RPM's? Any help will be appreciated.

What your tuner said is correct.  The fuel curves are in the computer and are set for the stock ford parts.  All an aftermarket maf that is for bigger injectors does is make a mechanical correction to fool the computer into thinking the stock parts are still there and then the computer can use the same fuel ratio curves.  The tuner will change the fuel curves based on the af ratio and map a new fuel curve for your parts.  If you are not having problems still there is a good chance your computer was just relearning the car.  When you disconnect the battery you reset it and it can take up to 100 miles for it to get the fuel curves correct.  I have notice mine takes 50 miles before the car runs good after major work, especially at low rpm.  How is the car running now?
