When I found this car it took my breath away. Unfortunatly I can't find any pics of it when I bought it, lost them all moving along with pics of my white one, but it was bone stock. It was a one owner car with 41,000 miles on it that had now been sitting on a dealership lot for about 11 months. The original owner was a 65 year old man that was a collector of sorts. The maintnance was religious every 2500 miles with full synthetics. The dealer had bought the car for 12,000 but being from an area where you only sell pickup trucks the car sat for nearly a year. He tried dropping the price but to no avail. When I found it he was down to 9,500 and after some negotiation I was able to take it home for 8,700. I had never been so happy. This thing was babied it's whole life, it even still had the silencer in the fenderwell and the ash tray lid wasn't busted. That's how you know it's good.
I drove this car proudly in stock form for about 6-8 months and put around 30,000 miles on it. (I lived a long hour of highways from work.) I think this was one of those "fast from the factory" cars that you hear about. Bone stock I was able to run a 14.20 at 101mph. Not to shabby! Beat a few Mustangs and a whole mess of ricers & Camaros, but I had saved up a bunch of money and it was time for more. I called up a few places, CJ Pony Parts, Downs Racing etc., and spent every penny I had, pulled the car into my friends garage and started to stip her down. In two days time I pretty much had the bare body on jack stands. I pulled the engine and trans out and broke it down, pulled all the wheels, suspension, driveline, fuel tank, exhaust and the rest of the good stuff off the car and went to work. The next day a friend and I made our way out to CJ's to pickup my order, it was a scene straight out of Fast and the Furious. No better feeling then driving a pickup truck full of mustang parts all for me! Over the next 3 weeks my friends and I put my car back together with my first stage of modifications. |
