STOCK Classification

* NOTE: Any Stock Production Mustang with a Supercharger is automatically in the Lightly Modified category. Mach 1’s are stock from the showroom floor.

 * NOTE 2: Any one or two of the Lightly Modified items will not upgrade the car’s classification.

 *  NOTE 3: Stock Cobras with Superchargers go into the Heavily Modified category.

 * Stock Production Mustang – excluding Cobra’s w/Superchargers

  •  New or updated Badges or Lettering (rear area)
  •  Cold Air Kits – w/standard throttlebody & fuel injectors
  •  Custom Seats
  •  Upgraded Stereo and Speakers
  •  Stock type spoiler. (Exam: Fox body convertible adding new decklid & spoiler – getting rid of the stock luggage rack on a fox convertible would be modified)
  •  Adding stock mass air (87/88 Mustangs have speed density)
  •  Headers
  •  Smog Pump Removal
  •  AC Unit Removal
  •  Aftermarket Wheels & Tires
  •  Aftermarket shocks and springs.
  •  Replacing Headlights and Taillights with stock type units (old units fogged over, cracked or broken) Includes the stock replacements with clear sides.
  •  Headlight, Fog & Taillight Covers
  •  Gas Cap/Fuel Area Bling
  •  Aftermarket Radiators
  •  Window Tint
  •  5 lug conversion – Fox body 4 lug.
  •  Adding Stripes to the stock paint job.
  •  Strut Tower Brace
  •  Sub-Frame Connectors
  •  K&N Air Filters

  • LIGHTLY MODIFIED  Classification

Three or more of these items. Lightly Modified does not include any real power adders to the Mustang- Engine Remains Stock This category is mostly appearance mods. (MOSTLY BLING)

     Upgrading Brakes

    •  Upgraded Suspension
    •  Body Kit – air dam, side skirts, rear valance
    •  Aftermarket Hood
    •  Aftermarket Spoiler
    •  Aftermarket Stereo upgrade to include, subs, amps, dvd players, etc.
    •  Aftermarket Headlights
    •  Aftermarket Taillights – clear, smoked, etc.
    •  Custom Interior incl/ Billet & Chrome interior pieces
    •  Custom Paint.
    •  Nitros
    •  Custom Engine Bling, Powdercoating of stock parts, Aftermarket Valve Covers, Polished parts ect. – Engine guts remain mostly stock…
    •  Electric Radiator Fan set-up
    •  Custom Trunk Area
    •  Aftermarket Suspension Work
    •  Lambo Doors
    •  Side Exhaust
    •  Rear Gears Upgrade
    •  SN95 Honeycomb Panels
    •  Hood Pins
    •  Sunroof

    MODERATELY MODIFIED Classification

Moderately includes cars with engine modifications and could include some or all of the lightly modified items. Any Roush, Saleen or Steeda w/manifold & intake upgrade but minus Supercharger will be listed as Moderate. Cars with just the moderate items will also fall into this category. (MOSTLY ENGINE – going for horsepower)

    • Custom Intake & Manifold
    •  Aftermarket Mass Air upgrade 70MM or higher w/fuel injectors over 19lb.
    •  Could include having many or all of the Lightly Modified items

     HEAVILY MODIFIED Classification

Any Mustang V6 or V8 that has a Supercharger or Turbo falls into this category and includes Mustangs with heavily modified engines built for horsepower.

    • Supercharger or Turbo
    • Serious Engine Mods (cam, heads, etc)

    CUSTOM Classification

Show Vehicles, generally NOT daily drivers

    •  Custom Paint
    • Custom Interior
    • Custom Stereo System
    •  Custom Engine Bay
    •  Aftermarket Manifold/Intake, injectors, mass air, etc.
    •  Could Include Custom Suspension Work
    • Could have a Supercharger or Turbo added.

As I said, this is a general idea to make the classificaitons more cut and dry. The majority of the cars will fall between Stock, light, and moderate.  Anyone elses thoughts?

put it this way...if you had a stock car..woudl it be fair to go up against another stang with the mods I picked out?

i dont agree with a stock supercharged cobra going into heavily modified.  It technically is a stock production car.  There is no reason for a stock cobra to have to compete with a real heavily modded car JUST because they come stock with a supercharger.

Perhaps there should be specialty categories, like cobras, saleens, roush etc.

i thinks girzgt has a point too...if you put a s/c or turbo on the car it should go heavily or custom depending on the set up(amount of boost etc)..otherwise stock is stock unless someone gets a special class for them too.

I like it crimson. But if you have a power adder and nothing else I think heavily modified might be a little much. I think if you have a power adder and nothing else moderatly modified would be a good spot to start. A power adder car could compete with a car with 3 or more bling mods in my opinion. Then if you have a power adder plus three or more bling mods from the lightly or moderatly modified list I then think they could go into the heavily modified class. As far as the Custom class goes I would leave it as you have it.

why cant you list a cobra as stock..technically thats 100% right...how do you classify an svo mustang then??

    Nicoleb3x3
    Sep 25th, 2006 @ 7:16 PM

    “”

maybe each "mod" can be assigned a number of points

add the total points of the car

set ranges of points for each category stock is 0-10 points lightly is 11-25 points etc etc

if anyone thinks that would work?  then a score card for that car can be viewed and easily updated when someone adds a mod?  sure; it will be allot of work to assign point values to every mod...but it could accomplish what tim/crimson is trying to accomplish.

...could numbers and math maybe take out the guesswork and opinions of classification?

    comments anyone?

oh yeah...and if later we discovered the point system was not working well (example  = blowers) we could change the value of that mod and then everyone would automatically be re-calualted and re-classififed by the computer?

does anyone get my idea?  or am I in dream land here?

I like the idea Nicole. It looks like some work up front but would make classification a no brainer. And like you said changes could be made across the board easily.

i like the sound of the point system. yes as u said it would take alot of time and testing to assign points correctly to each mod. but once we got it up it would work great.

nicoles idea is pretty good, sounds like a lot of work, crimson is right.what if everyone had one mod list(they fill out themselves) to check off.then submit it to the management of the site.so that the judges dont have to re-do everone on the site.
