Once in a lifetime pics of planet Mars.....

Took these pics of Mars on 08/23/09. First time in recorded history it has been this close to Earth. (32 million miles) With 75mm binoculars, spotting scope, or, larger camera lens it looks as big as our own full moon. It  can still be seen in the east after sundown until about 11:00p.m. (e.s.t.) It has started moving away from earth. NASA says it will not be this close for another five thousand years. Used a 3200mm lens and light reduction filter. I don't know why the last three pics overlayed each other when I added them. OMG I hope the sky is not falling! lmao. If it's clear tonight, you should grab some binoculars and look at it. It is cool. Thanks.

LMAO   everyone I have ever met thinks that Minnesota IS a planet yb itself and the vikings are the ONLY team too...  It's no wonder though, they are so close to Canada it is kinda like an infection..

I never had a problem when I was borrowed out there. People all were very nice and helpful when I needed it.(Gopher boy excluded) Chicago, now, was another story!

My first thought is F*** the Vikings .. This place is a world of it's own and they call it "GOD'S COUNTRY", well he can keep it .. Lake you say, ya we have lots of them and idiots walk out on them in the winter and drill holes to catch fish. I'd rather sit on the bank (don't have my Jesus water walking shoes yet) witha cold beer on a warm day and catch fish. If you want to fish at -40 then go for it. We have a pizza shop run by Sven and Olie ( go find those names in a Kansas phonebook) .. We have snow here about 8 months of the year but morons keep trying to drive at 65 on the highway (keeps the tow trucks in business) and who ever loaned Jerry to us PLEASE take him back .. LMAO

I'm back home as of 2007. You're right. There are some crazy bastards up there in the winter. Eighty below wind chill and hangin' on grain cars switchin' next to the Mississippi river is not exactly what I call an ideal workday. Never again. Unless they call tomorrow. Need the money and health benefits. Thanks for the words on the pics. Get the wine coolers, binoculars, and, head out tonight and look at it.

A bit too much light from the metropolis to see any stars in the sky here, might have to take a trip out of town to catch it.. Unlike the zillion stars I just left back in New Mexico, the milky way dominated the sky.

Heard it's beautiful there. Always wanted to ride my Harley across there and the painted desert.
