Custom Center Console Help!

I am trying to design a custom center console for my '88 Notch but I am having trouble with the design due to the emergency brake. The handle is very close to the floor and there is little room to work around it. I have tried to encorporate the use of the e-brake into the design but I just can't get the design I am looking for while leaving the e-brake in the original position.
My question is this.. is it probable to move the e-brake to a pedal under the dash? If so what do I need to make it work? Maybe, just build over the existing e-brake and never use it again. I found this pic on www.NCStangs.com and it looks as though this one was covered up by the console that was built. Any ideas or suggestions would be of great help!

maybe walk through your local salvage yard to find something to suit your personal preference.as far as putting it under the dash i think your biggest challenges would be on actually mounting it(probably have to tack weld a bracket to the inner structure of your stang, drill a hole in your firewall for the cable to come through, then find the correct length of e brake cable(im sure there would be custom set ups available somewhere).as far as leaving it off...you might want to think about that..say you were to get in an accident because your brakes failed.and your insurance company finds out that you deleted your e-brake,you could have your claimed denied(unsafe car)...insurance companies are just itching to find ways to screw you over.
