Virginia Cruise in Burn out comp

I entered this burn out comp today, knowing that I would not win, but for the hell of it and to get a better seat to watch.  I made it to the next round but it was "go till you blow" and well this is my daily driver and blowing my tires up was not an option.  On a brighter note, I got to drive my car home were as many others did not.

should of stayed in Bed!

Well lets see it started out first by running over my cell phone.  I guess it fell out of my pocket while i was getting into my car. Then while traveling at 55 mph on my way to work my hood flew up hit my windsheld, tore the crap out of the back of the cowl,  Put a nice deep crease in the area just behind the hood.  Destroyed the cowl into many peices.  Bent the windsheild wipers.  Then once I get to work I locked my keys in the car.  what a day.

New Hood completed and on the car.

About 30 hours of total sanding and rebuilding the hood, Fiberglass, Body filler, 4 coats of primer, one coat of sealer, 4 coats of jet black, and 5 coats of clear.  Wet sanded 3 times, dry sanded I dont remember how times.  But this is the hood that was on YSOFFCER's Car.  The Pictures kind of suck It Looks better in person.

Interior Complete, 5 days later. Well it took me along time to complete probably around 33 hours if I add it all up and about 100 bucks to complete this project; but today I finally completed it.  And It was nice to see the fruits of my labor.  The pictures are kind of mixed up, but I took the interior from grey to black and created custom door panels.

Swaped out my white gauge faces for the
Original 140mph gauge faces.

I took the old door panels apart and used them as template.  Easier said than done.  I reused the aluminum upper peices and the window sill molding.  Everything else was new.

The originals window sill moldings were stapled in.  I used small set screws then used a cut off wheel to shave the excess.  I also used the same typed screw and process to attach the fiber board to the aluminum.  The original peice was pressed and glued in.  I used 1/8 fiber board and used a Roto Zip rotery saw to cut out the peices and then a Dremel tool to smooth the edges.

Before Old door panel.                     After with new door panel

               Completed door panel

        Carpet was dyed black.

I opened up a can of worms Here are some pics of what I did today, and yesterday, and then the next day.  I have paintd and dyed fox body interior parts all over the dining room table.  I still have to do the side moldings next to the back seat, dye the carpet, and build my door panels.  It was hot as hell here today in VA Beach.  So hopfully Wednesday is cooler, and I can get things put back together.  I am not looking forward to try and figure out what screw goes where.  I am not very orginized when it comes to this stuff.  I have some detail work to take care of as well Over spray to be exact.  I had to drive the car about 500 feet in the condition it is in now and it was quite tricky to hold up the gauge piller and drive and work the turn signals and what not.  I am also swaping out the glow gauges in the speedo for the originals I think the white will clash once I get everything together.  I have decided to go with just black for now with out any yellow trim peices.

Alright finaly got the new tranny in and it runs great.  However I have run into a bit of a problem.  You see the new linkage that the shifter cable attaches too has bends in the portion that is conected to the transmission.  The old trannys was straight.  My problem is that the cable will not go far enough forward to engage park.  So as of right now when the shifter reads P, it is really in reverse and so forth.  Now if I wanted to roll in a hoopty I would not care, but that is not the case.  There is plenty of cable left,  just no way to adjust it the inch forward it needs to go.  As you are looking at it now it is neutral.  I need to either one get a new shifter cable, which on I have no clue where to start with that, or find a way to extend the one I have now.  I put this out to all of you because there might be an Idea that I have not thought of.  Now we thought of taken the old linkage and putting on the new tranny, however I would of still run into the same problem.  This AOD shift linkage lever stops at vertical which is 1st then moves forward, all the way forward being park which is close to being horizontal.  My old tranny vertical was neutral then moving it forward you had reverse then park.  If you moved it the other way then obouisly you have all the other gears.  any imput would be great.  thanks

um no overdrive I was rolling down the highway this morning and then my RPM's shot up to 4 grand I backed off played with the shifter and nothing.  I have reverse, drive and 1st with no problems.  I can use overdrive but when I accelerate it does not pull.  If I gently accelerate it will move forward but not like it should.  Anyone ever had this problem in an Automatic.  Anyone have any solutions.  Thanks
