This is all about my lil Stang....
1989 Ford Mustang LX. 5.0 5 speed. Bought it January 2005. 228k miles, white hood, 10 holes, hacked exhaust and a hurst shifter. I fell in love for osme reason and bought it as a "daily driveR" while I built my F-bodies.
I got an itch for more than 9.3's and decided to put some gears and better tires on it. put FRPP 3.73's and BFG comp T/A DR's on it in June of 2005 and went to 9.0's. clutch started going out and a month later EXPLODED on my way home from work....destroyed the bellhousing, clutch, pr5essure plate, clutch cable and left me stranded. Fixed that and added a Bassani X-pipe and Flowmaster 2 chambers. Car didnt pick up any ET but it sure sounded good.
then 2 weeks later, the oil pump shaft snapped at the track and sent the stock motor to its grave. That was when I decided it was time to build the car RIGHT.....it took about 3 months but here's all I did...
302 w/TRW forged pistons, re-con'd rods and crank
Lunati 51014 cam (.500/.510 lift, 218/226 duration)
stock E7's w/trickflow springs
Cobra upper/lower intake w/70mm Holley TB
Walbro 255LPH in-tank pump
Aeromotive AFPR w/Marshall gauge
stock MAF and 19# injectors
removed smog equipment
ProFab upper/lower control arms
Went to the track and made 6 passes. 8.92, 8.98, 8.68, 8.69 and my best......
Last pass, it went good then bad. Came out of the hole with a 1.78 60 ft and went to smack 3rd gear when the car died. Oil pump had locked up and let the cam gear shear the distributor gear clean off...time for another rebuild....
FINALLY got the car back together after some PITA and money issues. Here's what i ADDED:
Stock E7's shaved .040 thousandths
Nitrous Express 100 shot wet kit
UPR Spherical rearend bushings
Lakewood DriveShaft loop
ThunderValley custom fabbed SFC's and torque boxes
Centerline Warriors 15x3.5 and 15x7
painted white cowl hood to a "closer" color
Well it ran and it did fine. Here's what she looks like:
Thats the car with my 2 buddies cars (91 Trans am w/383 stroker)(89 Lincoln Mark VII w/CompuCar Nitrous 100 shot and exhaust)
Well, n/A I got it to lay down 243.6 RWHP and 297.8 RWTQ. 13.1-13.7 A/F Ratio, REALLY clean runs. Cracked the bottle open and first bottle pass, it blew the bottom radiator hose off....fixed that and let it cool down, ran another n/A run where I got my best N/A numbers. Then opened the bottle for one final pass.
286.7 RWHP and 433.9 RWTQ
And it laid down on me...blew BOTH headgaskets. limped it ohme (didnt overheat) and now its itme to rebuild.....this time with something differant in the heads department
