I was at the MCA car show in Mustang Oklahoma a month ago and ran into some issues
I took the car down the track and it fell on it's face at the top of 4th gear (around the 1000' point of the track)
It ran pretty rough but I got back to the hotel.
The
next day I limped it to the car show but on the way stopped at
O'Reilly's where I changed one of the spark plugs that had the
electrode pretty much gone. It showed signs of detonation.
It ran better but still a bit rough so I changed the rest of the
plugs. One of them had the electrode bent over so they were
touching and a couple more showed signs of detonation. Even after
the plugs were replaced it idled a bit rough. I'm thinking
a dinged valve so there's going to be some work to do!
Long
story short, I'm going to pull the engine and rebuild it to put down
some big power. This site will detail some of the different mods
and work to support this rebuild.
Here's the teardown.....
Got it up on jackstands and started disconnecting vacuum lines and electrical connections
Got the inlet pipe out of the front fender. It won't go back in quite the same!
I can't wait to try and figure out all of the connections when It goes back together!!!
Dumped exhaust doesn't hang right with no midpipe!
The midpipe and driveshaft on my workbench... I see a stock clutch sitting there too. lol
I pulled the bolts out of the transmission support crossmember so here's the new transmission support lol
Tupperware parts bins on the tires
Well, there's my fuel injectors... some other things in there
