Carlisle All-Ford Nationals

blog Sunday, June 04, 2006 @ 5:13 PM

Had a lot of fun, although Friday was a wash out and Saturday had a few showers. Didn't stick around for the Sunday festivities, my wife said I should cause I might win, but I wanted to get hom and see my baby girl
I was surprised and disappointed that there weren't  more cars cruising the streets, unlike Ocean City where the cruisers never sleep and are everywhere.  The Bed and Breakfast owner told me that there was an ordinance in Carlisle against it. That's ironic to me. You have a town that has as one of its major draws a car show circuit and you put up laws to ban "cruising."  Seems a bit irrational. But then again, I thought Carlisle was a wierd town. It had a lot of interesting nooks and history, but turn the wrong corner and some things seem completely out of place.
But as much fun as we did have, nothing was better than finding out Bill Goldberg was staying at my Bed and Breakfast in Carlisle, and then, to make things even more awesome, he had breakfast with me, my wife, and another couple for about a half an hour Saturday morning. We got pictures and autographs and everything. He is a wonderful conversationalist and one of the nicest guys I've ever met. Truly humble and generous with his time. Loves the car hobby and even paid his own way to Carlisle just to present "The Lawman" super Boss Mustang back to Al Ekstand (although Goldberg is keeping it). Very classy guy.
The morning before we left, my headunit stopped working and when I went to open up my hood on the Fun Ford field, the hood latch broke. I was lucky enough to get back to Baltimore without the hood flying up in my face, drove 60 mph the whole way home, but otherwise, not too many mechanical problems.
Also had my car shot for Mustang Enthusiast Magazine. And the Ocean City Today newspaper just finished a feature with me for the Ocean City car show coming up next weekend. Be on the lookout for both of them soon.
