Well ok got the oil pump changed, and everything buttoned back up properly. Fired the car up and guess what no oil presure. But on a brighter note the ticking in the heads has gone away which tells me that there is oil getting to the valve train at least. We followed the manual to a T no short cuttting anything. And the pump only goes in one way and the drive rod for the pump was verified by two other people that it was in correctly. I now have a knock in the motor, as well as a small exhaust leak, I hate Cats had a hard time bolting them back into the headers. you can only here the knock on acceleration. We had to lift the motor about 4 inches above the motor mounts to remove the pump and pan. I am at a loss not sure what the hell is going on with the car. How can I tell the motor is getting oil properly without a gauge. I heard you can pull the valve covers and run the motor to see. The way I understand it is if the valve train is getting oil so is the rest of the motor. I know the pressure gauge line has air in it, but I dont know if that would cause problems with the reading. I am going to test and put the eletric gauge back on to see if it is the same. I am also thinking that maybe the extention from the block that the oil pressure sender hooks up to might be cloged. Don't know. As far as the knock is concerned i have no clue unless the timing was mess up. We did not touch the distributer, but I do beleive the oil pump rod is driven off of the distributer. The motor has less than a 1000 miles on it. WTF is wrong. The bad part is I do not have disposible funds to fix this beast and it is my daily driver. I was at the point last night to give up and sell it and ride my bicycle 44 miles a day to work , but a good nights rest and clear thinking brought me back to the relem that it might be the timing causing the knocking or the exhaust leak. I run 93 octane fuel. I welcome any comments that might help me solve this problem. LOL or if anyone wants to travel to Beautiful Virginia Beach and help me fix my car. Enough ranting. Thanks for the encouragement.
