To EFI or not to EFI

Well since I soon will be moving to Fort Knox KY (hopefully) I put the 69 back together, took about 2 days (since I couldnt remember which bolts went where, yeah I know shoulda put them in marked bags or something, my wife already told me lol) while I was out there I got to thinking about how cool it would be to put the new 5.0 engine into her. I was also wondering if anyone has done this or not. obviously not with the new 5.0, but an EFI engine.  the computer would come with it, but what about the wheel speed sensor, and a few other things. I would like to use the old dash guages, since the old speedo is measured the old way, and the new computer would probably require a wheel speed sensor. So is it possible to use the old guages with the new engine, is there an adapter or something that would make it work? Im not too worried about doing it concords since I dont have the original engine or tranny anyways. But my main question is would it be a total slight against 69 stang to put a new engine in the stang? But with all the advantages of it, it seems like it would be worth it. Plus if Im not mistaken it would be easier to add horsepower to it. I dont know, so many questions!

I've read some on this it's called restomodding.  The 5.0 in the original stangs works and yes would have the advantages of efi and mod parts for the newer engines.  I think it would be a cool project.

I considered putting the 4.6 3V from my 05 Roush into my 66 (installed a S/C Livernois Stroker 3V in the Roush). At the time I couldn't find any data on the swap (so I just did the Dart 363 Stroker), but now I'm told wiring harness manufactures (like Painless) have harnesses to do it. I heard there are "drivers" to allow original gauges to work with the new power-plants but I'd think if you "google" Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords & other magazines they may have your answers. We have a shop here doing lots of swaps (mainly LS engines into 50's Chebbies) but they're doing a 5.7 Hemi into my wife's 64 Stude' & I believe they've done new Fords as well. If you can't find stuff on the web, give Marc at Marc's Garage a shout (see if you can send him an eMail to he can answer if he has a few spare minutes). 817-834-9905 is the ph. # but DON'T abuse it...he stays VERY BUSY!

Sweet, thanks for the info guys, a lot of great info! The 4.6 might actually be easier since its been out for a few years, and would probably be easier to find adapters and whatnot for it!
