Hi folks! Anyone have experience with the Edelbrock E-Force supercharger? I am looking to install one on my 07 and wanted to know if there are any gotchas. Let me know. Thanks - Tim
There was an article over on www.grabberorange.net last year about the E-Force. I think a couple of guys installed it. You might want to jump over there and do a search.
Thanks, I will do that. Have read a number of articles - most of the major mags have done installs to.
havent heard much good about it.. i went with the saleen twin screw.
Wow! I'm surprised!! All the major magazines gave it good reviews.
im lovin the saleen set up tho!! my second choice was KB.
Like Tim, all Ive heard was good.
Yeah Mark, I like the engineering behind it and the fact that the installation is fairly straight forward. 475HP out of 5lbs of boost is impressive and you have room to go up from there if I ever feel like investing int he bottom end work.
91 is a stoner....KEYSTONE!!!!!!!!!
Ordered the E-Force yesterday. CJ Pony Parts had them on sale with free shipping and I was able to work another 2% off. Harrisburg to Philly area - should only take a day or two!!!
sweet!!! you doing the install yourself ? with the saleen charger they sent me a disk with 147 pages of instructions lol
Yeah, I doing it myself. I already downloaded the instuction manual. 60+ pages and very specific. With the right tools they say about 10 hours of labor, so I should be able to get it done in two weekend of full-time days! haha
10 hours if youve done it before... took me and my dad 18 hours from driving in to pulling out. some of the wiring gets tricky. make sure you have some help to set the charger down on the motor. other than that its just a lot of little things. take your time and enjoy man!!!!
My older brother is helping - 15 year professional mechanic - taught me most of what i know. Yeah, no rush. It's cold out so no much driving going on now. Will enjoy myself. These cars are a joy to work on!
does that come with a boost-a-pump ?
It does not, but with the injectors they provide and the 'normal' level of boost (5lbs) they say it is not needed. It comes with everything else though!!! Also, if you hear of anyone wanting a JLT CAI and SCT Tuner let me know. I have a slightly used one for sale. Also a throttle body! :-)
Awesome man !! I'm gathering everything for a turbo install now myself. I just need a block. My brother-in-law is hooking me up with the turbo, or turbo's. Whichever he decides to bring me. So Im not sure if its going to be twins or a big single
Nice - I like the twin setups. Saw a guy who took out his foglights on his GT and made them air inlets. Very cool.
^^ that is sweet lookin
It finally arrived! Can't wait to start the install!!!
done yet ??
Haha - not yet. Probably start next weekend. Happy New Year!
i couldnt wait!!!!! started the install before the ups guy left
lmao. I would probably be the same way.
Still gathering additional parts and ordered a 'good' tune from Brenspeed yesterday. But don't think I'm not antsy!!! I rumage through all the parts every night!
im running a brenspeed tune as well... id would say def get it checked on a dyno... mine came out ok but ive seen a few that havent. friend of mine has an 05 with a v3 @ 8psi... it made 353 rwhp on a brenspeed tune>>10.0:1 af. currently makes 470ish @ 11psi dyno tuned.
Its a good idea to get anyones tune checked when possible. Every car is different. Even two identicle cars, can need a slightly different tune sometimes. I cant wait til you tell us about your first ride.
Take lots of pics Tim. You know how we all love pics.
Yeah, will defenitely get the tune checked and the car dynoed Mark and Tony. Just need the base tune to get it out of the garage since the 'factory' tune that Edelbrock provides does not take into consideration the new Competition Air Intake and different MA sensor. First ride could be scary - I cant hold traction in the winter with the tires I'm running w/o the SC. :-) And yes Timmy, I will take lots of pictures!
OK so an update. The guys at Brenspeed have lots of experience with the E-Force. They told me as it ships it's worth about +100 HP. So long story short I am in for about another $1K in parts including the tune to bring it to about the 475-490HP and 450ftlb torque range. All of which is proported to be safe on a stock bottem end. Basically this is their Stage II kit - Edelbrock Competition Air intake, boost-pump (yes I needed it with this setup), new pulley (and belt of course), and the tune. Oh and just for giggles the battery died this winter in the cold so a new Optima RedTop. Install is scheduled for 2/4 w/e if this crap weather we are having holds off. Can't put my vert out in the crappy weather for too long - it's old! Haha
"Its old" ... So are you,but we let you go outside in the winter !! lmao j/k man. Thanks for the update. Good luck with the install. Keep us posted.
Yeah, I am! But I'm like the dog - my wife still throws me outside no matter how cold it is! Haha
Me too man....me too. lol Actually she hardly ever lets me come in.
...and I cant go in the house either. LMAO
Installed!!! All went well with only a few minor issued to contend with that, if I had done a better search before hand, I could have been prepared for. Even with the issues and two trips to the not so close hardware stores (about 45 minutes each) we still completed the install in under 10 hours of clock time! Only one minor scare on startup. Thought we had a leak in the dreaded collant cross-over, but we just must have splashed some collant in the areas or it was an initial seating cold leak - nothing now. Power? Yes!!! Everything I hoped for! Fun to hold on to until I get it into 3rd gear! Setting up a new Auto budget to include much more fuel and frequent tire changes!
Awesome man !!
Sweeeeeet .. Congrats Tim.
