Page 4 Suspension time and 4.10's

My next choice of modding was to get the suspension a little tighter and to be able to put that 290+ HP to the ground.  I again went with BMR, who offered good quality products at a greatly reduced price.  I stiffen up the front end, I chose to add a Strut Tower Brace and lower G-Trac brace.

BMR makes the baddest looking strut tower brace on the market.

I then looked at ending the dreaded wheel hop.  I went with BMR Lower Control Arms and lowering brackets to account for the drop due to the new springs.  As you can tell, the BMR are way beefier than the stock ones.

The lowering brackets readjusts for the loss of angle between the rear axel and frame.  More angle means greater leverage and hopfully no more wheel hop.

I added the lowering brackets and the new LCA's.

Rear shot of the brackets, note the adjustable panhard bar.

FRPP rear axel girdle........gives it a lot of support.

I then went back and forth on going with a set of 4.10's  But all I read about them was positive, especially for a manual transmission.  Many recommend 3.73 for some manuals and really recommended them for autos.  By now, FRPP had come out with the drag pack ( also the Power Pack, and Handling Pack).  All a little too late for me, by then I had most of my performance mods done.  It helped that FRPP had 4.10's in their drag pack, so I decided to go with them.  I had Fast Lane Motorsports do the install and I am very pleased with it.  Doug at Bama Chips helped out by modding my tune to accept them.   For the new S 197 stangs, Bama Chips is the best source for tunes.  They are available for downloads using SCT's Live Load program.

As you can tell, my engine bay is desperately in need of some bling.  So I painted my cam covers and installed some braided hoses.

Below is the before picture.  Humble, very humble....almost makes you not want to pop the hood.

I put my oldest to work, learning the tools of the trade.  I removed the left side and he watched and then removed the right side.

The out in the drizzle with a toothbrush and simple green.

Mostly put back together, bout to fire it up and check for leaks

All done, no leaks and looks good to boot.

Much better than the above picture.  Still some chome is in order, just not on order.
