I found some of my first Stang, a 1968 I mentioned on my first page. These pictures were done after a drunk ran me off the road. Sorry for the quality or lack there of. I tried to scan them but got a BMP not a JPG. So I then took my digital camera and took a picture of the picture. The drunk took out the whole driver's side. I got a blue door off of a wrecked 67 and a fender off a wrecked 68. At the time I was working as a mechanic at an airport. On the weekends, we were allowed to use the shop and its facalities.
I had to save up more money to get a shop to paint it for me. I was quite pleased with the results below.
Note the styling cues. I added the C stripe of the 1968 GT, Deleted the outer corral, but added square fog lights (K mart, remember guys and gals, this was just when the Mustang was starting to be given a second look and resto parts scene was brand new). The black stripes on the lovered hood was stock and so was the vinyl top.
I have staight pipe duel exhaust, no chrome tips. I painted the rear tail light panel as a nod to the BOSS mustangs.
Far from the concours route, Aluminum intake, Holley 600 cfm 4 barrel, Accell wires and cap, cobra black and silver valve covers, not pictured was a set of Ford Motorsports Tri Y headers and H pipe to mate with the glass packs.
Another view.
Hard to read, but it says 289 cubic inches High Performance . Working at the airport, I would get about 4 gallons of 100 low lead and sweetin up the fuel mixture with 91 octane of no lead. For the day, it was pushing about 225 hp at the flywheel. This was the days (1984) when the Mustang's top engine was the 4 V 175 HP. I had bought a set of Windsor heads but never got around to putting them on. I sold the car in 1988 when I joined the Marine Corps.
