I updated PAGE 9 with 16 more pictures and a bunch more info./updates and some changes to my plans.
For starters, I repainted my timing cover and s/c bracket. after drying for several days, it was too light for me, and took away from that sinister look i am going for. I used the same paint, only instead of gray primer, i used a 1400 degree high temp flat black as a base coat. The result was a nice dark charcoal color. There is a HUGE difference between a gray base and a black base!
I also painted a few more parts (pictures on page 9). Includes Water Pump, Heads, EGR
As of Tuesday 12/12/06, the engine went into the machine shop FINALLY! They are hot tanking it (cleaning it) and boring/honing the cylinders .20 over. They are also handling the assembly of the long block for me. Should have it back sometime late January!
Today, 12/14/06 I received some goodies in the mail! Forged MMR Manley 18cc dished pistons .20 overbore and a SpeedPro moly file-fit piston ring set.
I also bought a set of cams as well. Houston Performance Stage 2 Blower Cams. (Thanks to Mug11) Hopefully these will be in tomorrow. I hope i can use them...the machine shop has a slight concern that they may not work without fly-cutting the pistons (which i want to avoid...EXPENSIVE!). If this is the case, they will be sold and I will buy a different set. Mug11 gave me a killer deal that i could'nt pass up. But i wont know until they try them and check for PTV clearence.
I still have a CRAP LOAD of parts to buy (stay tuned)... but right now, i have to focus my $$ towards and the machine shop (going to be around $1500+ or so in parts and labor) I am basically at a stand still now anyway until the engine gets back. all i can do is buy more parts
