...we installed the new timing cover and water pump, and...
THE BOLTS DON'T FIT!!
The ARP bolts are not long enough..even though it's the right part # for this motor and aluminum timing cover...wtf!!
I checked online and the ARP bolts made for the cast iron timing cover appear to be the right ones (they're longer)...but I have an aluminum timing cover..will need to call ARP to find out if these are the ones I need...and what the hell is going on!!
for now a few of the non-broken bolts are holding it together...
In the mean time, my dad helped out by installing the oil pump, oil pan before putting the project on hold again...while I get the right bolts to tighten up the water pump/timing cover..
We did get the 8.8 rearend from the donor car today, along with the front spindles, calipers and other brake parts.
...and the 2.3 would have seen garage time this weekend if these bolts didn't f- us again.
