THE BEFORE PICTURE

RESTORED INTERIOR

The interior definitely showed its age when I purchased the car. The convertible bucket were full of dirt; the carpet stained; dirty and broken interior pieces; torn seats and convertible panels surrounding the back seats were torn, broken - the vinyl cut in several places on both pieces.  The previous owners had left their mark around the interior. The only drawback was my lack of experience doing any interior work. This was gonna be interesting.

After a few trips to the junkyard gathering intel of how things worked and went together I began planning out my strategies and timeframe to accomplish my goal. It was a mixture of new parts and old. Parts that would be painted and others that would be dyed. The garage was starting to look like a Mustang interior shop. The replacement rear interior panels I purchased online were in better shape but still had to be repaired in several spots just to get them ready. One came in blue and the other in gray. I intended to dye them black but as fate would have it the vinyl was cut or split in several places on these too. So, I had to strip them bare and went with covering them in black speaker carpet. They came out pretty decent.

Once things were gathered and organized I stripped the interior. It was tedious for one person getting the black carpet cut and then installed properly. After some serious swearing, tossing of tools and getting pissed off I finally got the sucker in place. In less than a week the black interior was in the car and looking good. The hideous beige mixed with stains and age was gone.

Months later I wanted a custom look and something to break up the black and show some depth to the dark interior without creating custom pieces. I went with picking up some junkyard pieces and painting them white with heavy gloss clear coat.  The only real work was building another set of door panels. This set having the removable side panels which I covered with white simulated leather and on the drivers side I had a running pony embroidered. The right side would get a Ford emblem.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Thanks for visiting.

The Re-Upholstered Rear Seats. Plain as plain can be. No ripples, creases, or grooves.
Looks almost like a rear delete kit was installed. It came out better than expected.

Here's a few BEFORE IMAGES of the interior before the rework started.  The seats in these pictures actually came from the junkyard. Got the pair for $25 in great shape.

RAGTOP UNDERCARRIAGE
I would enjoy having a more presentable undercarriage, but this car is my daily driver. Any creative cleaning on my part would be ruined within a week with the driving. My apologies for the 20 year old appearance. Badsnake98 could definitely give me some pointers here. LOL
